We’ve been cleaning out the closets lately and either finding purposes for our belongings, donating them or tossing them. One fun discovery I made during the last “Random Closet Purge” was our curtains from the wedding arbor we were married beneath. (See DIY Wedding Arbor Post for more details on that!) Being the sentimental fool that I am, I couldn’t quite bring myself to put them in the “Donate” bin but didn’t really have a need for lacy curtains anywhere around the house. I decided instead to turn them into a piece of art for our bedroom!

Framed Wedding Curtains
I had this frame stashed out in the Shop for a rainy day, but, thought that the antiqued silver would look perfect with the lacy texture and I was right! My frame is 24×30 but any poster sized frame would work. I started by gathering one straight edge across the top of the frame and with my staple gun, stapled the top and sides in place. Then I gathered the curtain in the corner, stapled those and trimmed off the excess.

First Panel
Once I was happy with the first panel, I replicated it on the opposite side of the frame. I then took the excess curtain and pulled it straight down from top to bottom to cover the triangle shaped gap in the middle.

Since the contents of my frame opening were all somewhat sheer, I used Wall Buddies to hide my hanging mechanics. These are a LIFE SAVER when it comes to hanging any frames in the house. In my 10 years of Custom Framing, these are the most fool proof way to mount and hang any frame without needing to use 12 levels and a laser beam to get things straight.

I hung the finished piece up over our bed so we now get to fall asleep under the same curtains where we were pronounced husband and wife! How cool is that?
